Recovery Box

How to store and carry essentials are important questions. Once you know and have your recovery gear deciding where to store it and how are big issues when the amount of space you have is limited and accessibility is key. When your in a pinch you want to have the equipment easily accessible.

I decided that I want to store the majority of my recovery equipment on my roof. Why? The tools that I will keep up there will be the larger ones and the ones that will most likely get really dirty. It’s easier to get mud off the outside then inside a car, in my opinion.

An issue that came to my mind about storing equipment on a roof rack was drag. I kept that I’m mind when choosing a rack and a recovery box.

I wanted a low profile recovery box that was study enough to hold the bulky recovery tools. A YouTuber who uses a Subaru Forester for off road used a rifle case, and I grab that idea. To see the Forester build watch this : https://youtu.be/hZflNuJWNm4

I found an inexpensive and sturdy rifle case on Amazon and so far I have most of my recovery tools in it. It’s low profile but thick enough to hold tools and a hand winch, is padded inside easy to carry. What do you use as a recovery box?
