The standard for recovery tracks are the MaxTrax. At $300 a pair it’s an expensive investment. For heavier larger vehicles other are the go to, for lighter ones- we have more options.

I watched comparison videos and read opinion articles but what I really wanted to know was,’ what are the tracks rated for?’ Most of the non z max Trax companies didn’t list that information but one did. Smittybuilt.

Smittybuilt is a Southern California company that started in one man’s garage ‘Smitty’ and grew. I love these stories and I love supporting local businesses anytime I can.

During the unboxing video I saw that the tracks were made in China. Smittybuilt does outsource.

The tracks are rated for 7,000 pounds, more then enough for my 4,000 pound Outback. They come with a sturdy carrying sleeve which is nice for storage when not in use.
